Why This Reference Exists
Modern Duncanville records have different custodians and different limits. Dallas Central Appraisal District keeps the tax-account and parcel layer. The Dallas County Clerk holds the Official Public Records and other county routes. Dallas County Elections and Texas agencies control voter and statewide record access. Dallas Public Library and Duncanville Public Library hold historical directories, newspapers, and microform. The goal is to make those separate routes easier to identify without suggesting that they form one complete roster.
What the Directory Provides
- Search paths by question: the street directory for address-keyed sources, the city directory for historical collections, and the resident lookup for comparing one person's records
- Custodian information: DCAD, the Dallas County Clerk, court clerks, election routes, DSHS Vital Statistics, and library collections
- Practical methods: parcel-to-deed work, reading a directory entry, and pairing a household trail with dated sources
- Access boundaries: Texas Public Information Act request mechanics, confidentiality rules, copy routes, and in-person fallbacks
